The dance of the vampires

Today marks the Russian ceremony of “patriotic victory”: a veritable dance of the vampires.
What are they celebrating? Victory over us, together with the Americans who had armed and financed them while at the same time fighting us on three other fronts.
Their victory over Europe.
The rise of a freedom-crushing, squalid, terrorist, failing system that would seize half of Europe’s peoples, deny their nations, give birth to the infamous “Gulag Archipelago,” and collapse forty-five years later due to the total incompetence of its wardens.

Meanwhile, the very real fear

of those beasts allowed the Americans to regiment us all into NATO, with the complicity of their perennial Moscow-aligned servants.
NATO never did anything against the Russians. When the USSR collapsed, it was precisely the Americans who rushed to its aid to prevent its disintegration. They even tried to hinder the creation of Ukraine as an independent nation (Bush Sr.’s famous speech in Kyiv speaks to this).
And when they offered the newly freed peoples the “shield” of the Atlantic Alliance, they “curiously” did not deploy nuclear warheads in the new member states; 40% of defensive missiles in Europe were dismantled; meanwhile, Moscow armed nuclear warheads in Kaliningrad aimed at European cities; Russia, in the meantime, became an associate member of NATO and remained so until November 2021.

From the very first day of the invasion of Ukraine

I denounced the American double game, the complicity between that superpower and Russia, and the fact that the war would serve American interests—but that it more the Russians than the Ukrainians, who set it in motion on their behalf.
More than fifty months have passed, and along with the geometrically evident military impotence of the eastern hordes, it has been confirmed day after day that I was right. So much so that the supposed and loudly proclaimed conflict between Russians and Americans has disappeared from every statement—even during Biden’s time: the Russians have it only in for us, and the United States is no different.
Yet another deception has dissolved with almost embarrassing ease.
The same embarrassing ease with which pro-Russians—who spoke of a European or Eurasian power against the Americans—have adopted rhetoric against Europe and only against Europe.

A pro-Russian intoxication

still lingers in many, because they cannot bring themselves to admit that they placed absurd hopes in a system of failed gangsters.
They simply cannot accept the truth—so often painful!—and stubbornly keep dreaming of a Brechtian “pirate ship” to be “liberated” by a providential brigand.
So far, no great harm. It is permissible to live on deceptions, utopias, and immature illusions— provided one does so with a minimum of dignity. Not, that is, as often happens, with a begging bowl in hand, getting embassies or organizations of a foreign—and openly hostile—state to pay for trips, initiatives, publications, meeting places, and platforms. Because in that case, one’s convictions are no longer simply mistaken, but dictated by whoever foots the bill.
There are several striking examples of “illustrious” servants who work hard, well paid, to keep alive a series of lies about the righteousness of the Russian cause—or, even more ridiculously, about its great military power, which has yet to be seen. Not yesterday, not today, but tomorrow…

I believe it is too late

to change one’s mind about this conflict; everyone has formed their own view. It is also true that over time I have observed much more moderation and a certain disillusionment among not a few pro-Russians.
Life has taught me, however, that almost no one has the courage to admit they were wrong; more often, they pretend nothing happened and move on.
And, ultimately, given each person’s relevance in this story, it is not so important.

It is also understandable that not everyone has reached this point, but instead clings to an irrational passion for a Russia that has nothing in common with the the one they imagined or the artificial one that was shown to them by the political commissars who received them.
That too is human, all too human.

My hope for them

for their self-respect, is that they do not take pride today in the dance of the vampires in Moscow. Because there is no ambiguity about what it celebrates: the defeat of Europe, the capture of the bunker defended by the Charlemagne, the subjugation of the Baltic peoples, Belarusians, Ukrainians, Poles, Romanians, Czechs, Slovaks, Bulgarians, Hungarians, and a large part of the Germans, along with the dismemberment of Germany accompanied by certain genocidal practices.
Forty-five years of depression, tyranny, terror, and the exaltation of all that is subhuman.
